Amazing place to stay on the cheap in Austin for ACL or any reason. The rooms were comfortable and the bar downstairs is a great way to meet people and find things to do in the city. All the staff was wicked nice, especially Sarah, who led the hostel food and pub crawls a few of the nights I was there!

Location is outstanding.
Staff, Howie and Alejandra, are simply fabulous. inviting, friendly, helpful and consistently going above and beyond just because they are amazing people !
Rooms are big with plenty of space to securely store my big duffel bag.
Full kitchen if you want to cook or store food in the full size fridges.
Bar underneath the hostel and activities for all guests means you don’t have to go far to just meet great people.
Highly highly recommend the Firehouse Hostel if you’re heading to Austin.

Howie and the entire team are amazing, they will will bend over backwards to cater to your needs. You cannot beat the location just north of the famous 6th Street. Rooms are comfortable, clean and affordable. Highly recommend staying here!

If you’re a light sleeper i definitely recommend ear plugs and a sleeping mask. Other than that, it’s a great time. The speakeasy is a great place to begin the night and meet some of the people staying at the hostel. All of the staff were friendly. The bathrooms/showers were clean. They have a big kitchen area as well.

Loved this Hostel! I’ve stayed in a lot over the years and this is probably up there in my favourites.
Really great staff and service- especially Howie- top man!
Location is great, there’s a lot of negative reviews on some apps regarding homeless people near the hostel, but they don’t bother you unless you’re smoking (they’ll probably ask for a light or a spare cig, but completely harmless and actually pretty friendly)
Nice kitchen, comfy beds, can’t really fault it other than to say that maybe the AC in the dorms could be a bit stronger, but they also provide a personal fan for each bed which makes up for it. Met some cool people here and had a great night out- especially with a discount at the cool bar downstairs!

I had an amazing time at Firehouse Hostel in Austin, Texas thanks to Sarah who guided us hostel residents around Austin, showing us delicious restaurants and fun bars. Cheech who fixed most of my problems i experienced at the Hostel.

Hostel is in a prime location downtown Austin so most is within a short distance even having a fun bar right downstairs. If you're mainly there for 6th street then its the perfect place to walk back to with no troubles. They have necessary amenities like fridge, washer/dryer, and complementary towels.

The vibe is chill and filled with activities, just remember to be proactive in getting to know everyone.

I had a great stay at the Firehouse Hostel. The staff was nice and accommodating. Howie was helpful at checkin and checkout and friendly in the lobby. The location is fantastic, right near a lot of nightlife in downtown Austin. The noise from the bar downstairs didn't bother me. The facilities were comfortable, with good AC and nice communal kitchen and bathrooms. I recommend the Firehouse Hostel.
